The duo comes off winning the 2025 Apertura Tournament with Platense, a historic achievement for the Saavedra-based club, and represents a growth story forged in the lower divisions, from Primera D to the elite of Argentine football. That journey, combined with their recent title, was decisive in accelerating negotiations and finalizing the agreement before training resumed. Newell's sporting director led the negotiations, and it has been reported that the parties have already agreed on the central points of the deal, pending the final signature. Orsi and Gómez are expected to take charge of the team from Thursday afternoon, when the squad resumes activity after the break. The choice of this duo gained traction after the option of Martín Anselmi fell through; he was a top candidate, but his financial demands and requirements for reinforcements led the board to look elsewhere.
